Abstract

This article aims to analyze the actions implemented for teacher education in a small municipality located in the south-central region of Bahia, examining the challenges faced by the municipal education system in implementing public policies for teacher training. The theoretical-methodological perspective adopted was Historical Materialism and Dialectics. The data collection instruments used were: document analysis, interviews, and questionnaires. The results indicate that the municipality reached a rate of 96.7% of its permanent teachers with the minimum initial training required by the LDB, due to the municipality’s participation in special training programs, such as the Proleigos Course and the UNEB 2000 Network Program. The findings reveal that the induction of teacher education policies by other federative entities is fundamental to overcoming the challenges faced by small municipalities.
