Abstract

The article contains a summary of research developed in a Doctorate Course in Education[1] and addresses the integration of Education for Peace in formal education. It aims to understand how public education policies and the Curriculum Guidelines for Undergraduate Courses, especially teacher training courses, promote Education for Peace that involves the transformation or transcendence of conflicts. The specific objectives include identifying the relationship between the concepts and content addressed; evaluating current educational policies; and proposing the integration of Education for Peace into formal education, including higher education. The qualitative approach uses bibliographic research and content analysis of documents and current regulations, including UNESCO recommendations (2010, 2015), the Federal Constitution of 1988, and the National Education Plan PNE (2014-2024). Theoretically, it is based on authors such as Bobbio, Galtung, Jares, Salles Filho, and Guimarães, with Galtung and Lederach supporting conflict transformation. The relevance of the research lies in encouraging reflection on Education for Peace, proposing its integration throughout the educational system, as a core, transversal, and uniform discipline, with the aim of implementing UNESCO's Global Citizenship Education (GCED), reviewing the current National Education Plan PNE (2014-2024), and drafting a National Education Plan for Peace (PNEEP) together with human rights education, in order to promote a culture of peace through education.
