Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the existing relationships between the importance of collegiate meetings for the elaboration, execution and planning of the school's Political Pedagogical Project and the mandatory teaching of History of Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous Culture. Using the qualitative methodology, a documental analysis of the legislation pertaining to democratic management and a review of specialized literature on the subject were carried out. On the other hand, there is discussion of the school unit accepting, or not, and including in its political pedagogical project studies of African and indigenous history in its curriculum. The legal provision exists, but the conditions for pedagogical actions are not given without the interest of the school community. Therefore, a possible direction is the active participation of members of the school community together with well-trained education professionals.
